Domestic Adoption Program Overview

Our domestic adoption program is one of the greatest strengths of Premier Adoption Agency. We believe that every child is of infinite worth, and that birth mothers provide a priceless gift in offering their baby to a wonderful family. We honor each birth mother for her incredible sacrifice. Other agencies may offer discounted fees to families who adopt children with special needs, or children who are not of the adoptive parents racial background. We are proud to offer the same low fees for every adoption, recognizing that all human life is infinitely valuable.

Premier Adoption Agency’s commitment to all partners in the adoption triad, including the child, the birth mother and the adoptive parents, brings about some added benefits to each adopting family.

  • Our special approach of assessment and counseling with each birth mother reduces the risk of failed placement.

  • Adoptive families are presented with all known medical, social and financial information about any case before making a decision to proceed.

  • Your confidentiality is securely guarded.

  • Our comprehensive outreach program brings in a fairly good cross section of all races and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Our counseling and assistance to birth mothers, including housing if necessary, medical care, and life planning and development mean a healthier birthmother and a healthier child for each adoptive family.

Who Can Adopt?

Married couples and single men and women may adopt. Generally there are no age restrictions. Please ask if you have any concerns.

Children Available

Primarily newborns. Ask if you are interested in adopting an older child.

How long Does It Take To Receive A Child?

Because we allow each birth mother to select the adopting family, nobody can predict exactly when matching will occur. We also have found no rule that universally applies to what attributes birth parents are looking for (i.e.: age, number of children, ethnicity, external appearances, socio-economic standing, religion, etc.). Your child will come from a birth mother who can envision her child being raised in your family.

The Process

Upon submitting your Application for Domestic Services, an $800 application fee is required. If your homestudy is already complete, we will review it to ensure it meets our standards and gather all necessary supporting documentation to finalize your file.

Next, you will complete the Adoptive Parent’s Preference Form, detailing your preferences.

Once you are officially registered with Premier and have provided all required documentation, we will begin presenting your family to potential adoption matches that align with your preferences. When a birth mother shows interest, we ask her to select her top three choices. We will then contact the adoptive family chosen as her first preference, providing comprehensive case details. You will have the opportunity to make an informed decision about proceeding with the match. If the first family decides not to proceed, we will move to the second choice, and so on.

Once you accept an adoption referral you are considered officially “matched”. You will pay the file activation/matching fee ($7,500) and reimburse the agency for prior expenses for the birth parents and commit to continued financial support to term. Once a birth mother/family match is made we continue to facilitate communication needs and requests while waiting for the baby to be born. The hospital plan and birth may or may not involve the adoptive family. After birth, there is a mandatory waiting period to sign a relinquishment of parental rights. In Utah it is 24 hours, Arizona is 72 hours, and Nevada is 72 hours. What happens during relinquishment and hospital time is usually dictated by the birth parent's birth plan. This birth plan is put together by the birth parents several weeks prior to delivery with the assistance of their adoption case worker. You will receive a copy of this plan to prepare for placement.

If interstate travel is required, plan on a ten-day stay, after receiving placement of your child, to complete all necessary paperwork (ICPC). If the baby was born in the adopting family’s home state, ICPC is not necessary and the family can return home immediately after the relinquishment documents are signed and the baby is released from the hospital.

Finalization of the adoption varies depending on your state of residence but usually consists of hiring an attorney who submits post-placement supervisory visits and adoption paperwork to your local courts. In the states of Utah and Nevada non-residents are able to finalize their adoption if they so choose. If they are placed with a child in the state of Arizona the adopting family must finalize the adoption in their home state.
